Is it safe for my teenager?
Under-18s need a parent or guardian to open the account and consent. Dojo test recordings stay in your child's browser; AI practice speech is processed by our speech service and the transcript is never stored. Live coach sessions are audio-recorded, never video. Coaches see a candidate letter, never your child's name. All teaching content is exam-focused with a strict no-political-content rule, and payments run only through Stripe — we never see card details.
What does it really cost?
Free forever: the placement test, White Belt Units 1–2, and 10 AI practice responses a day. Full-dojo pricing will be announced at launch; membership includes 200 AI responses a day — we state the daily number, never “unlimited”. Compare: a private speaking tutor in Hong Kong runs HK$400–600 an hour. Cancel anytime; refund terms are public: refunds.
Will an AI grade my child?
No. AI drafts practice feedback — always labelled “a coach's draft” — and human coaches judge anything that matters. Nobody here predicts DSE grades, and anyone who promises your child a 5** is selling something dishonest.
Can I watch a live coaching session?
Yes — by being in the same room as your child during the session. We don't issue second video-call logins (that would put an unidentified adult in a room of minors); sitting beside them shows you everything.
Is this more screen time I should worry about?
The design is short daily bursts, not marathons: a few minutes of speaking beats an hour of scrolling model answers, and the free tier's 10-responses-a-day cap builds that rhythm in. Speaking practice is active, out-loud work — closer to music practice than to watching videos.
How can I help at home if my English is weak?
You don't need English to help. Ask your child to show you their one-minute answer — in any language, ask “why?” once, and praise one specific thing. The practice report can be translated to Chinese with one click and emailed to you; being interested is the help.
What happens if we stop?
Cancel in two clicks, keep whatever was learned. Unspent purchased packs have a 14-day full refund; everything else your child earned — belts, progress, confidence — was never rented.
